For my wide photo shoot, I decided to make a story from my current location. That happened to be my Brother-in-law's house. The house is located on the Bloomington golf course, great for me, since I LOVE golf. (did you sense the sarcasm?) It was also very active with golfers all over the place, so I had a ton to shoot.... (yep you are catching on)
Okay, so in reality there wasn't much out side at four on a Saturday. But I believe it made my pictures simple, and I love simple.
It was interesting shooting wide. I have always enjoyed doing detail pictures and I rarely shoot wide, but I was glad I was forced to do so. Shooting wide helps tell the story. It shows you all the details wrapped up in one picture. If a person looks at a wide photo, they would be able to tell what was going on. Compared to a detail picture, it may look cool, but without background information you wouldn't understand the story. For example; if I would have taken a picture of just the golf ball, zoomed in, all you would understand is "golf ball". Since I took a wide photo of the golf ball, you can see what is all around it. So instead of just understanding "golf ball", you get the golf course, houses, trees, the weather, and the mood. In other words, you get the story.
